Married But Available (MBA)…

Sunflora wrote:

One of the current hot topics is about the possible existence of a certain “album” containing pictures of women who are interested in looking for a spouse. That bit wasn’t that interesting. Rumour has it that THE album was shown and seen by certain MBAs. No not those with the Masters in Business, rather the Married but Available variety of men.

Rumour has it, some women have banned their husbands from going to the house where THE ALBUM is kept.

I for one, am tempted to approach the owner of the album myself, to ask to view it. Not that I am interested in looking for a wife, no. But rather to see if the album really exist or if it is merely an urban legend.

…this has to be the most interesting blog in the Malaysian blogosphere so far!

NAB, All-Blogs, PABS - what are they?

NAB, All-Blogs, PABS. Are you confused now? I am definitely, and I’m not really in the mood to read thru’ all these verbose so-po blogs (no offense =P) to find out what it really is. So, here’s a table which hopefully can clear up everything.

Pls comment if there are any inaccuracies above.

Unique advertisements in Malaysia

xes wrote:

Unlike those unique advertisements in other countries such as Japan, Malaysia doesn’t have many unique advertisements which are blog worthy. However, the following advertisements are pretty unique.

Adhesive Tape advertisement - their tape is so good till it could stick their own advertisement.

Mahathir defends Bloggers!!!

via SMH:

Malaysia’s former premier Mahathir Mohamad Wednesday emerged as an unlikely champion for the country’s bloggers, arguing they provide a valuable source of news. Mahathir, who in recent months has complained he was being censored by mainstream media, said people were turning to blogs and online news journals because of Malaysia’s tightly controlled media.

“There is no doubt that bloggers have provided us with an alternative source of news. By and large, they have been responsible,” Mahathir said after speaking at a conference on the media and national development. “At the moment, with the atmosphere prevailing in the country, many people are turning to the bloggers for news,” he said.

“That is what the government should learn, if you suppress news then the alternative source will gain credence,” said the former leader, whose daughter Marina has her own blog.

VT Massacre: Chaos & Sensationalism

via ReCom:

I love how harian metro “pusing” my account…[Harian Metro: Bunyi Tembakan Bertalu-talu]

0. “Hujan peluru” was nowhere near me
1. Nobody was screaming, we were all well behaved.
2. There are only 5 of us Malaysians here
3. I was in my lab doing research when this happened, not on the way to lectures.
4. I heard dull “pops”, not loud “bangs”
5. I never called the cops, there was no need to. They were all over the place.
6. I was in no position to hear screams for help from Norris Hall, the doors were shut and almost airtight.
7. Police did not knock on my door. I got emails from the university to leave and go home.
8. All I said was I wanted to get some “sleep”, when did that translate to “vacation”?
9. I was never a target.

Lots of exaggeration! Just to sensationalize and dramatize the story…

A Harian Metro journalist sensationalised the story told to him by a postgrad student in Virginia Tech, Brendan Chan and some bloggers are bashing the Malaysian media now. Well, over here in the US, it’s gone to a worst state, where an Asian American gun enthusiast was wrongly accused of the shooting, where his blog was even broadcasted on Gerado, a TV talkshow on one of the US TV channels resulting in alot of racist comments on the guy’s blog. Anyway, now that the picture’s out and the main culprit identified, everything’s kinda in the clear now, except for the reason for the massacre. All I hope for now, is that there won’t be any backlash against the Asian community here in the US.
