How Censorship & Conservative Values F*** Up Societies

Case 3#: Divorce Rates among Muslims vs Non-Muslims in Asia

Let’s now look at divorce rates in the Muslim world. The Malaysian New Straits Times on Saturday Sep 30 said that last year in Malaysia there were 15,000 divorces among the Muslim Malay population and 3,000 among the Chinese and Indian populations.

Both populations are seeing an upward trend in divorces. Now here’s the funny thing not mentioned in the paper but apparent to anyone with a passing knowledge of Malaysian society: There are 12.5 million muslims in Malaysia and 7.5 million Chinese and Indians. This means that Muslims are divorcing at THREE times the rate of non-Muslims. Yet it is the Muslims who have the most exposure to censorship of sexual nature.

Read with an open mind…

From my point of view, some muslims did not follow the the Islam(Islam means a way of life for muslims) although they’re muslims. That’s why now there are too many divorces cases..IF they follow the correct path..this thing might not happen..

Just my opinion anyway :-)

Comparing religion with race? Your argument (or the one who wrote it) is seriously flawed!

Better luck next time.

hmm, well the assumption’s that all malays in malaysia are muslims, isn’t that right? And that these muslims are subjected to more conservative values than the non-muslims. how is that comparing religion with race?

It is true that there are some malays(but very very little) is not a muslims..but I’m agree that religion cannot be compared with race..

I don’t get it.. what does sexual censorship has anything to do with the trend of people getting divorced? Is the writer trying to say that people get divorced mainly because of reasons related to sexual? I don’t think that’s the case here. There are many other reasons for two married couples to end up getting divorced.. money problems, lack of understanding, responsibility, attitude towards partners, the list goes on and on… I’m not sure why the writer writes as if ’sex’ is the major contributing factor in the divorce issues.

The writer may want to first conduct an intensive research on why people get divorced before assuming that it is all related to sex or extramarital relationships..
